At The Wheatsheaf, we aim to ensure that all our guests have comfortable facilities and are made to feel welcome. We have developed this access statement to address some of the more common issues that people face.

The access statement is intended to provide additional information for all guests who wish to attend the Inn or use its facilities.


The Wheatsheaf is a grade II listed building comprising, 4 en suite bedrooms, with a function room/restaurant, pool room, lounge and sports bar.
The lounge, sports bar and pool room are all on the ground floor.   The building can be accessed through the front door (Stepped) or the car park entrance (Wheelchair).
The restaurant/function room and 4 guest rooms are only accessible by stairs.

There is a bus stop opposite The Wheatsheaf.   The main bus station is in Boston.
The nearest train station is Swineshead Bridge (2 miles) or Boston (6 miles).
Our location is listed on Google Maps.
Arrival and Car Parking Facilities
There is a private car park to the rear of the Inn.   This is free of charge to guests and customers.
The car park surface is worn and not well lit at night caution is advised.
There is a slope to the rear entrance offering access including wheelchair.
If assistance is required with luggage ask at the bar.
The premises are closed between 3.00pm and 6.00pm Monday to Thursday.   If access is required during this time call the office on 01205 821010

Reception

Reception is available in the lounge and sports bar.
There is a step from the main entrance into both the lounge and sports bar.
Lounge, Sports Bar and Pool Room
All located on the ground floor.
Single step access through the front entrance.
Fixed and moveable seating throughout.   Tall bar stools in the sports bar and pool room.
Background music in the lounge.   Juke box in the bar and pool room.
Waiter service for diners.

Function Room / Restaurant

Is situated on the first floor and only accessed via narrow stairs.

Bedrooms

All four bedrooms are located on the first floor and all are accessed only by a narrow stairway.
Three bedrooms have en-suite facilities with shower cubicles.   One has a bath with shower.
We do not have adapted bathrooms or grab rails.

Customer Toilets

Both located on the ground floor off of the car park entrance hall.
Access to cubicles in the ladies and gents toilets is narrow and not suited to wheelchair users.

Additional Information

The Wheatsheaf  is reported to be 300 years old and the nature of the building means that it is impossible to make access to the first floor without stairs.
We aim to ensure that all employees, guests and others who use or assist in the provision of our services, are treated equally and according to their needs.   Staff training in disability awareness is undertaken as part of on-going staff development in compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act, 1995.
